WEEK 6 · MATCHUP CONTEXTA grade ranks how favourable the matchup is, and it does track who scores more, across 2022–25 it correlates about +0.38 with actual production. It does not predict a player beating his own projection: that correlation is −0.04, negative in all four seasons. Read it as context for a start/sit call, not as an edge over the number.
METHODOLOGY
Rankings aggregate player-level PPR fantasy points from nfl_data_pyplay-by-play. Each game-week row for a player counts once against the defending team, so “APP” (appearances) sums every player stat-line a defense faced at the position, backups included, not distinct games. “Avg PPR” is the mean PPR points per appearance allowed; lower = stingier defense. Exploit matchups come from the validated exploit engine, which grades individual players against the defense they face next week using matchup edge and projected production. Data covers 2026 regular season.
